Our Approach

Chiropractic

Chiropractors are doctors that focus on pain within the neuro-musculoskeletal system. Our approach is to address the patient’s needs by making an appropriate diagnosis to best address one’s health. Chiropractic care is used to treat complaints including but not limited to basic back pain, neck pain, joint pain, muscle pain, headaches, as well as bodily stress. We excel in restoring patients to a state of well being who have had extensive trauma due to accidents and injuries, herniated discs, sprains and strains, arthritis, tendonitis, scoliosis, sciatica, carpal tunnel, tennis elbow, fractures, gait abnormalities, rotator cuff tear, cervical and lumbar radiculopathy, chondromalacia patella, spinal stenosis, meniscus & ligament injuries, and much more.

Injured tissue can undergo physical and chemical changes as a result of a single traumatic event such as improper lifting of a heavy object, a fall, a motor vehicle accident, or through repetitive stress, such as sitting in an awkward position with poor spinal posture for a long period of time. This injured tissue can cause inflammation, pain, and diminished function affecting everyday life. Chiropractic manipulation and care restores mobility, relieves pain and muscle tightness, and allows the tissue to heal. Research shows more people are turning to chiropractic care first all over the world. What’s more is that in addition to most health insurance policies, Medicare, Worker’s Compensation, No-Fault, and Personal Injury now recognize and include non-invasive chiropractic care coverage as a very cost effective and safe alternative health approach.

There may be instances where it is clear the patient needs to be referred to a different type of physician, such as a Physiatrist or Orthopedist. There are times when x-rays, lab work, an MRI, a CT, EMG/NCV, injections, medications, or in extreme cases, surgery are necessary. If these resources are required, our facility is equipped to handle all your needs directly within our two locations.

Should surgery become necessary, we have many trusting relationships with various types of physicians which we can refer you to for consultation, most that work in the same facility as our clinic so you won’t have to travel far. Should surgery be the best fit for your circumstance, we will be here to see you through proper post-operative recovery and rehabilitation to help accelerate the healing process.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture is the practice of inserting clean fine filiform needles into precise points on  the body to relieve pain for therapeutic purposes. There are several layers of pathways/channels that exist in the body. These pathways or channels are treated with needles for pain and for proper system function, which correlates with the body’s organs such as the lungs, large intestine, stomach, spleen, heart, small intestine, bladder, kidney, pericardium, gall bladder, and liver.

If you are considering acupuncture, Dr. Alexander will assess you, evaluate your symptoms, and make a diagnosis as to which organ systems are involved and perform acupuncture treatment accordingly. Acupuncture has great success in the treatment of musculoskeletal pain and is a complementary therapy to chiropractic care for several conditions including but not limited to:

  • Abdominal/Gastrointestinal Distension
  • Pain Control
  • Sinus Allergies
  • Eating Disorders
  • Anxiety
  • Arthritis
  • Migraine Headaches
  • Muscle Spasms

While acupuncture is slightly more invasive than chiropractic treatment, it is not uncomfortable or painful if the patient is relaxed. Please ask Dr. Alexander if you have an interest in acupuncture or would like to know more about it.

Regenerative Medicine

What is regenerative medicine?

Regenerative medicine focuses on treatments aimed at repairing and replacing damaged tissues and organs due to the natural process of aging, disease, or trauma, rather than treating the symptoms with medication or procedures. Regenerative therapy involves the use of biological material that can be directly delivered to injured tissues to promote healing. With platelet rich plasma therapy (PRP), the body uses its own natural power and ability to heal in an accelerated manner. Platelets contain proteins called growth factors and cytokines, which promote a series of events that enable healing and tissue growth to occur, such as enhanced blood flow, signaling the body to send healing anti-inflammatory mediators to the area, attraction of stem cells, and differentiation of cells to promote tissue growth.

What is involved with regenerative medicine?

Designed to regenerate, rebuild, and repair damaged tissues that reduce pain and fix injuries, regenerative injections are used in joints, muscles, tendons, and ligaments, to heal the root problem while reducing inflammation and pain. The process is done in the office where our phlebotomist will draw your own blood, spin it in our centrifuge machine to isolate the highly concentrated PRP, and then Dr. Alexander will inject it back into your body.

Who is a good candidate for regenerative medicine?

Patients that have tried and failed conservative measures such as chiropractic treatment, physical therapy, massage therapy, acupuncture, home exercise programs, medication, etc. and who are wanting to avoid surgery. Ask Dr. Alexander if you can benefit from this type of therapy!

Why choose regenerative therapy?

PRP greatly reduces the need for surgery by treating injured tissues before the damage progresses any further. The goal of regenerative therapy is to heal injured tissue and not just mask the pain. Regenerative therapy has helped many professionals and athletes heal rapidly from an injury and return to full activity. Regenerative therapy procedures are ideal for individuals who face ailments such as back pain, knee arthritis, tendonitis, ligament injuries, arthritis of the knee, hip or shoulder rotator cuff tears, tennis elbow, hip bursitis, patellar tendon injury, plantar fasciitis, and Achilles tendon injuries. Our use and focus of biological material are for orthopedic and musculoskeletal issues, such as osteoarthritis of the knee, hip, and shoulder, as well as cosmetically for hair regrowth and during facial microneedling

What is the recovery time?

Although recovery times vary, most patients can expect to see improvement in their pain and mobility within 4 to 6 weeks after treatment. Patients will continue to see improvement in pain and mobility for up to 12 months. Regenerative therapy patients experience rapid recovery and are back to their daily activities very quickly.

What are the benefits of regenerative medicine?

Blood plasmas are not manufactured in a laboratory. The biological material is from your own body. This means that there is no rejection, no allergic reactions, and it does not negatively impact the endocrine system. In fact, current research indicates that cellular therapy has the potential to generate a positive effect on the organs involved in the endocrine system. Long-term use of cortisone is known to have many potential negative effects, such as increasing blood sugar glucose, obesity, osteoporosis, skin changes, and loss of the body’s ability to produce natural cortisone from the adrenal glands. These things do not happen with PRP. Regenerative medicine solutions work well with nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide and nitrous oxide oral supplementation. Both help to augment the activation of tissue resident stem cells (these are stem cells that are present throughout the body in various organs).

No surgery, no medication, and no hospital stays are just a few of the reasons why thousands have chosen regenerative therapies over traditional methods. Most procedures are performed in less than an hour with very little post recovery. Many patients can return to work the next day. Because most regenerative procedures use your body’s own platelets and cells for healing, it’s safe and natural!
