Acupuncture

Acupuncture is the practice of inserting clean fine filiform needles into precise points on the body to relieve pain for therapeutic purposes. There are several layers of pathways/channels that exist in the body. These pathways or channels are treated with needles for pain and for proper system function, which correlates with the body’s organs such as the lung, large intestine, stomach, spleen, heart, small intestine, bladder, kidney, pericardium, gall bladder, and liver.

If you are considering acupuncture, Dr. Alexander will assess you, evaluate your symptoms, and make a diagnosis as to which organ system(s) are involved and perform acupuncture treatment accordingly. Acupuncture has great success in the treatment of musculoskeletal pain and is a complementary therapy to chiropractic care for several conditions including but not limited to:

  • Abdominal/Gastrointestinal Distension
  • Pain Control
  • Sinus Allergies
  • Eating Disorders
  • Anxiety
  • Arthritis
  • Migraine Headaches
  • Muscle Spasms

While acupuncture is slightly more invasive than chiropractic treatment, it is not uncomfortable or painful if the patient is relaxed. Please ask Dr. Alexander if you have an interest in acupuncture or would like to know more about it.
